A new Group in Town

Plant Patrol is a new all-volunteer group in Indiana County, Pennsylvania, dedicated to combat invasive weeds in our county’s public green spaces. They have organized volunteer work events in our county parks, Yellow Creek State Park and other local sites.

Invasive plants are species that are growing outside their native range and that cause or are likely to cause environmental or economic harm, or harm to human health.  Many invasive plant species disrupt the food web.

In May and June, Plant Patrol will hold volunteer work events at Yellow Creek State Park, Ghost Town Trail, and Pine Ridge Park.  They will soon schedule additional work events for late summer and fall.  More details about these events are posted on the organization’s Web site at https://www.plantpatrol.org.

Work events are scheduled for May 20, June 11, and June 17 – No prior experience necessary. If interested, please come out and help. Sign up on the Plant Patrol website or email us at evergreenconservancy@gmail.com.
